Licensed educational psychologists (LEP) are psychologists with schooling, training and experience focused on education. They conduct private assessments, provide direct intervention services, consult with schools and families, as well as make professional recommendations for individuals who may experience learning and behavioral problems, regardless of age.
We aim to help students between the ages of 5 and 25 identify their learning difficulties and strengths in order to provide professional advice that helps them find social and academic prosperity.
At Mind by Design, we believe in taking a very comprehensive and well-rounded approach. That’s why we work with the student, their parents, and their educators to cover more ground and give them the best chance at success possible.Â
As the student’s parent, we want you to gain as much involvement as possible. We provide coaching to help you learn how to guide your young student as they navigate their academic roadblocks. We can also work with their school to devise academic plans that acknowledge their learning disability and give them the support they need to embrace their strengths.
At Mind by Design, we specialize in a wide range of educational psychology services, including ADHD testing, Dyslexia testing, Autism testing, providing diagnosis as appropriate and recommending interventions and accommodations. We also provide IEP consulting for parents, so they can do their part to help their child succeed in school and in life.Â
Additional services offered include:
Occupational therapists
Speech therapists
Reading specialists
Special education teachers
Behaviorists
In addition to working with parents, we also partner with various educators and specialists like occupational therapists, development specialists, behaviorists, and more. This way, we can give each student a more well-rounded support system geared toward their academic performance.
With our extensive history working in the public education system, we acquired a distinct familiarity with the California Public Education Code. This helps us to improve our learning intervention strategies by focusing on delivering rational, effective, and manageable solutions. Our techniques are appropriate for both public and private school settings, so no matter how your child learns, we can give them the tools they need to thrive.
When you decide to meet with an educational psychologist it’s important to know what to expect.Â
The Mind by Design team of clinicians consists of licensed educational psychologists, education specialists, clinical psychologists and speech and language pathologists. No two cases are the same, so we want to take our time to get to know you and your student, identify their individual struggles and strengths, and find the most appropriate tools for their success.
You can expect the following process to take place when you contact our team.
The first thing we do is get some background on your student. Doing this and examining their school records gives us a greater insight into who the student is and what their academic performance looks like.
Next, we conduct processing, cognitive, and academic achievement testing typically over two sessions, with each session lasting three hours.
We take the results from the tests and carefully analyze them to produce an accurate interpretation, which we then put into a detailed written report.
Finally, we schedule a follow-up meeting with you to discuss the results of the test and explain our recommendations. You can typically expect this follow-up meeting to occur two to three weeks following the tests.
We aim to give you the clarity you need to better understand what specific challenges your child faces and how we can work together to help the student overcome them.
Depending on the specific needs of your child and situation, we may also suggest speech and language testing, school observations, and autism-specific testing. We'll discuss any recommendations with you during the testing process.
Every child learns differently, so how do you know if yours need additional guidance from an educational psychologist in Saratoga, CA?

Anxiety
By offering both clinical (DSM 5) and educational (IDEA) diagnoses, we can help create more effective and personalized strategies that target your child’s distinct learning challenges.
