Through psycho-educational assessments, we aim to find each child’s strengths and learning difficulties in order to help them overcome learning challenges. Then we work with students and their parents to devise educational plans and provide the support they need to understand their unique learning style and navigate any obstacles that are presented.
Our psychologists aren’t just passionate about helping young students. We have years of training and experience working with students of every age and varying learning capabilities. We also continue to work with various types of educational professionals, some of which we have in our clinic and others that we refer to within the community, including:
If you’re considering meeting with an educational psychologist in Campbell, CA, you’re probably wondering what to expect.Â
At Mind by Design, our specialization is school neuropsychological/psycho-educational assessments. This means that we can assess different abilities in students between the ages of 5 and 25, including cognitive, academic, and processing strengths and difficulties. Our comprehensive and thorough assessments can help us identify a wide range of different learning disabilities, such as:
ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder)
Social cognitive disorders
Executive function deficits
Once we know exactly what is holding your student back, we can devise a tailored plan to address your child’s challenges and help them boost their academic success. We provide clinical and educational diagnoses recognized by educational systems (both public and private). With these diagnoses, we can develop IEPs (individualized education plans) as well as Section 504 Plans, which offer learning disabilities intervention services.
These services can be especially valuable for students with various learning disabilities as they provide different strategies, support, and accommodations designed to help students succeed.
Our comprehensive testing process helps us uncover essential information about your child as well as their learning abilities and challenges.
We start our testing process with a comprehensive background check, where we uncover basic background information about your student and examine their school records.
Next, we conduct interviews with the student, the parent(s), and the student’s teachers and educators. After our interviews, we use behavioral rating scales to better understand your child’s unique situation.
Then, we move on to the direct testing step. Here, we test your child’s processing, cognitive, and academic abilities, typically over two to three sessions. And each of these sessions often lasts a couple of hours.
After the testing, we can analyze the results and use them to create a comprehensive report. We then use this written report to schedule a follow-up meeting with you and the student. During this meeting, we review the results, make recommendations, and discuss recommendations for intervention or further support.
This is our most basic process, but in some cases, we will also add autism-specific testing, speech language testing, and school observations, depending on the unique needs of your student.
The goal of every educational psychologist in Campbell, CA, isn’t just to figure out what’s holding your child back. We want to help your child enjoy learning and achieve their potential by helping them overcome their unique hurdles.
With our strength-based approach, we aim to use IEP consulting, executive function coaching, and other services to provide you with the clarity you need to better understand your child’s learning challenges and how to help them achieve new heights. We want to work with you to find effective solutions that help your child realize their full potential and achieve academic success.
